A New Lease of Life for Marxist Analysis

Dr. Donald Donham's extremely readable account and analysis of what could easily have been a most boring subject matter is a must read. Not only for those Marxists tired of orthodoxy of all types, but also for those non-Marxists who never tire of bashing Marxists. Set amongst the Maale people of Ethiopia, this book takles a seemingly simple question that has been the bane of materialist analysis for as long as it has been in existence. The question itself is posed in the following way: Is the table top existing because of the four legs that hold it up? Or, is it equally reasonable to say that the four legs are "legs" only because the table top meaningfully allows them to be so. Else they would merely be four pieces of wood, and that too skewed since it is the top that makes then perfectly vertical!
The book deals with the question of how the Maale organize their labor and brings together liberal economics and Marxist anthropological theory together in a positive manner. It shows how the first set of theories have limitations that do not allow them to solve certain Maale "paradoxes." On the other hand the latter set of theories need to be reshaped in the light of ethnographic data from Third World countries and peoples such as the Maale.
A superb, humanistic and many times humorous book. Always with both feet firmly planted on the ground, the author also shows how Marxism necessarily must participate in the drama that is life. Thus, he successfully attempts to integrate the literary genres of Comedy, Tragedy, Irony and Romance into his clearly argued Marxist analysis. I will be using this book in my graduate level seminar on Social Theory.

Pointless

I loved Current for medicine so I was excited to hear they were doing one for PMR. I bought it right away. Unfortunately, this edition seems haphazardly thrown together. The layout is confusing and often times repetitive as they place certain complications of diseases multiple times throughout the book. For example, there's no chapter on DVT management. Instead, pieces of information about this topic are scattered across 4 different chapters: immobility, SCI, stroke, and ortho AND omitted from sections like TBI, Cancer, and Cardiac rehab. So as a quick reference, it doesn't work. I also wish they would be more specific with treatment options, why to choose one over the other, and what side effects they have. Mostly, it's just a convoluted list of things you may or may not use. And because this is a condensed book of PMR, there's a lot of information that gets left out. So as a principal book for study purposes, it doesn't work. Unfortunately then, I'm not sure what the point of having this book is. Get Braddom for your main study book, and the updated version of the little black book for your reference guide instead.

I got the job!!!

I'll start with a little bit about me. I've always had problems going to job interviews and staying composed. Literally the entire time before the interview I sit there and psych myself out which turns me into a nervous wreck. This ends up making me perform terribly at the interview itself and I end up not getting the job. So I bought this book.

This book gave me exactly what I needed to know. It gave me enough forsight to be able to walk into my interview with confidence like I've never had before! It taught me how to flip the interview around so that I had control and could decide the direction the interview was going rather than my prospective employer scrutinizing me like what usually happens. Overall its a great book and you should buy it today if you are going to an interview soon!

I find this book on Interview very comprehensive and profound in giving some tried and tested tips on how to ace job interviews.I learned so many new things from this book but what I like the most about it is that there is a complete guide on how to overcome your interview fear.I can say that I'm prepared now to ace my interviews. Definitely recommended book to those who wants to ace their job interview.

My uncle highly recommended this book and for that reason I didn’t feel hesitate to catch this book. I am really glad to read this book because this book helped me a lot. By reading this book I have learned some correct way to dress for an interview, how to answer most challenging interview questions, and much more. Univ.-Professor Dr.-Ing. Konrad Zilch,

geboren 1944, studierte von 1964 bis 1969 Bauingenieurwesen an der TH Darmstadt und war dort bis 1979 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl f�r Massivbau – zun�chst bei Prof. Beck, sp�ter bei Prof. K�nig – unterbrochen von 1971 bis 1973 durch einem Aufenthalt an der University of California, Berkeley und am Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory der University of Western Ontario, Kanada sowie die Mitarbeit bei T.Y. Lin International, San Francisco. Promotion und Habilitation folgten 1976 und 1982. Von 1979 bis 1988 war er leitender Mitarbeiter einer bedeutenden deutschen Bauunternehmung im Technischen B�ro und auf gro�en Br�ckenbaustellen. 1988 nahm er den Ruf auf den Lehrstuhl f�r Baustatik der RWTH Aachen an, seit 1993 ist er Ordinarius f�r Massivbau der Technischen Universit�t M�nchen. Daneben arbeitet er als Beratender Ingenieur und als Pr�fingenieur f�r Baustatik innerhalb einer Ingenieurgesellschaft. Er war und ist in zahlreichen internationalen wissenschaftlichen Gremien sowie europ�ischen und nationalen Normenaussch�ssen, u.a. zur Erarbeitung von DIN 1045-1 und DIN EN 1992-1-1, t�tig. 2005 wurde ihm die Ehrendoktorw�rde der TU Darmstadt verliehen.

Jahrgang 1973, studierte von 1994 bis 1999 Bauingenieurwesen an der TU M�nchen, ist dort seit 1999 wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Lehrstuhl f�r Massivbau und leitet seit 2001 die Arbeitsgruppe Br�ckenbau. Daneben wirkt er an der Lehre im Grund- und Vertiefungsfach Massivbau mit. Von ihm liegen zahlreiche Ver�ffentlichungen unter anderem zur Erm�dung bei Stahlbeton- und Spannbetonbauteilen sowie zum Verst�rken bestehender Tragwerke vor. Er ist Mitarbeiter in nationalen und internationalen Gremien, u.a. einer fib-Arbeitsgruppe.

Disappointment

I was very disappointed in this "study guide" (especially since the textbook which it accompanies is great). Certainly there are NCLEX-style questions and the answers are in the back. However, with no rationales to accompany the answers, its utility is dubious. I stress to my students that when they are studying they need to examine the rationales for WHY an answer is correct or incorrect (this helps me, as the instructor, as well). The other issue I have with this text is that the content is narrow. For example, in the kidney chapter, there are pages of questions about polycystic kidney disease at the expense of other kidney pathology and nursing care. Broader content needs to be covered.

Not so much a study guide, as it is a test bank. It is full of test questions, but doesn't offer any explanations. Just the correct answers. Still useful when combinded with the clinical companion and textbook.
